e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 {I try out the Ruy Lopez} a6 4. Ba4 d6 5. d4 {Exploiting the pin on the knight I break open the center} Bd7 6. d5 Nd4 {Mistake by him wins me the pawn on e5} 7. Bxd7+ Qxd7 8.Nxd4 exd4 9. Qxd4 O-O-O 10. Be3 {Developing bishop and setting up a strong attack on the queen side, I think developing my knight would have been better and through most of the middle game my knight is left unused.} Qb5 11. c4 {I decide to push the c4 pawn to support my attack on the Queen side} Qb4+ 12. Qc3 {If he exchanges I have a good development lead} Qa4 13. b3 {linking up my pawns with tempo} Qd7 14.Nd2 Nf6 15. f3 {This was to stop his knight going to g4 and also strengthen my pawn formation, although this left my king slightly less defended} Be7 16. O-O h5 17. a4 {I begin pushing my a and b pawns to attack his king} h4 18. h3 {to stop the pawn advancing, but because I had pushed my f pawn as well it left the dark squares in front of my king severely weakened} Nh5 19. Bf2 {I move my bishop back to try and defend my king better but completely miss his bishop tactic on the next move and go down in material} Bf6 20. Qc1 {Awful blunder by me. Bd4 would have avoided going down in material.} Bxa1 21. Qxa1 Ng3 22. Bxg3 hxg3 {this pawn is very strong and now my king is in quite a bit of danger} 23. Qxg7 {picking up his loose pawn} Rhg8 24. Qd4 {making sure my Queen is very active} Kb8 25. Ra1 {defending the a pawn so I can push my b pawn} c5 26. dxc6 {I decide to take in order to damage his King's defence} Qxc6 27. b4 {pushing my pawns towards his King} Qd7 28. b5 a5 29. Qb6 {I probably should have moved my rook to a more active square but my decided to move my queen in towards his king} Qc8 30. Qxa5 {gobbling up more of his pawns but leaving my king exposed} Qc5+ {he starts to attack my king} 31. Kh1 Qf2 32. Rg1 {rook f1 would have been far better but luckily he doesn't play Rh8, Rxh3} Qd4 {strange move, he released a lot of pressure on my king and now I can attack} 33. b6 Kc8 34. Qa8+ {deadly} Kd7 35. Qxb7+ {taking with tempo} Ke8 36. Qc6+ {making way for my pawn with tempo} Kf8 37. Nf1 {my knight was no longer defended by the Queen so I move him to f1 where he is also attacking the h pawn, I could have also done Qc7} Kg7 {he blocks his rook from defending the pawn} 38. a5 {supporting the b pawn} Rc8 39. Qd5 {I try to trade off Queen's because after knight takes pawn and rook to etiher a1 or b1 I should be getting a queen or 2} Qa1 {not a very good place for his queen, as I can now take the pawn with tempo} 40. Nxg3 Qa3 41. Nf5+ {I finally bring my knight into the game} Kf8 42. Qxd6+ {I force the queen trade and win another pawn} Qxd6 43. Nxd6 Rc6 {he trys to attack my knight instead of pawns and game is pretty much over at this point} 44. b7 {going for a queen} Kg7 {he notices and trys to use his other rook to defend the last rank} 45. Nf5+ {moving my knight away from the attacking rook with tempo} Kh8 46. Ne7 {fork tactic ( thanks chess tempo) moving my rook out would have being good} Rxc4 {last ditch effort to take out my pawns} 47. Nxg8 Kxg8 48. b8=Q+ {I finally get my Queen!} 1-0 {Pros/cons: Used tempo well, weakened my dark squares around my king, missed his skewer on move 19, I defended my pieces and attacked his king well} [/pgn]
